Safe Fashion?

Hello lovelies!

So because of the events that have happened in Bangladesh, i decided to post about fashion and clothing stores that use safe practises, and safe work environments.

Now this reference isn't for Canadian shoppers, unfortunately  but I'll work on getting a solid list for Canadian shopper soon!


1. Annie Greenabelle – an trend ethical fashion brand making clothes from organic and Fairtrade certified cotton plus some reclaimed and end-of-roll fabrics.
2. Amoosi – reviving gorgeous reclaimed and vintage fabrics to produce tailored clothing and accessories with timeless characteristics
3. Ascension -  a great selection of ethical fashion and other lifestyle products.
4. ASOS Green Room - a selection of ethical fashion including their own brand ASOS Africa.
5. ASOS Marketplace – an online marketplace featuring some second hand and vintage clothing.
6. Bibico -  a Fairtrade clothing company selling simple charming clothes.
7. Beaumont Organic – Simple but luxurious clothing made from organic cotton.
8. Beyond Retro - a great online store with a huge selection of vintage clothing.
9. Bochica – An ethical boutique selling many of the well known ethical fashion brands.
10. Charlie Boots – Exclusive (ten item limit per design), UK made, womens wear and accessories from ethically sourced materials such as organic, sustainable, fair trade and vintage fabrics.
11. Ciel – Luxurious ethical fashion designed by Sarah Ratty.
12. Daisy Hill - a selection of clothing made from organic and reclaimed fabrics including some very affordable pieces.
13. Etsy - most people will probably already know this one but just in case you don’t it is a marketplace for handmade and vintage goodies.
15. Ethical Emi - ethical and fairtrade fashion and jewellery, handmade in Turkey.
16. Fashion Compassion – clothing sourceed responsibly from brands that contribute to society and empower women. This organisation also donates a proportion of its profits to charity.
17. Fashion Conscience - an excellent selection of some really affordable fashion including some of the better known brands and vegan shoes.
18. Folksy - A UK based marketplace for handcrafted goodies.
19. Frank and Faith - beautiful clothes made in the UK from organic cotton, bamboo and wool.
20. Good Fibres – a community where you can submit and vote on t shirts and designs. Those with the highest votes is made into a t shirt. They only use FairWear and eco-sensitive suppliers and donate a percentage of each sale to impoverished areas around the world.
21. H & M Conscious Collection - A collection from the well known high street retailer made from enviromentally – adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester.
22. Isla London - this sight is not yet launched but looks interesting. An Ethical Lifestyle Clothing Company, Specialising In fashionable Fabric Innovations and fun vibrant prints.
23. Jackpot - an lifestyle brand with clothes that are designed to last including a variety of organic and sustainable fabric.
24. Komodo – an international fashion brand pioneering the development of ecologically produced and fairly traded clothing in a mainstream fashion market.
25. Nancy Dee- An ethical brand designin day to evening jersey clothing that is made from organic cotton, soya bean,bamboo, linen and silk.
26. Liv UK – classic and stylish clothing sourced from organic and biodynamic cotton, which is fairly traded and sustainably grown. Owned by Elysia, the parent company of Dr Hauschka.
27. Love Me Again – an independent fashion label that uses entirely recycled textiles unique and affordable clothes
28. Made UK – a fair-trade accessories brand that produces jewellery and leather goods in a Nairobi workshop in Kenya. Committed to supporting and promoting trade in Africa.
29. Monkee Genes - GOTS and Soil Association ceritfied organic cotton jeans in a variety of colours and fits.
30. Not on the High Street - an online marketplace selling an alternative to the mass produced products on the high street. Includes some ethical clothing and accessories.
31. Offset Warehouse – a social enterprise and the first UK online retailer to bring together all the elements needed to create ethical clothing and interiors. Its boutique sells some great womens clothes and accessories.
32. Oofoo - an online ethical shopping portal that sells clothing and accessories by a variety of brands.
33. On Friday - a bag brand that is supporting and creating innovative, sustainable and design-led solutions that address some of today’s most pressing social and environmental challenges.
34. Organic Stereo – a Brighton based line of progressive clothing which uses fabrics that are ecological and prints and dying processes are unharmful to the environment.
35. Oxfam Online – of course I couldn’t write a list on affordable ethical fashion without mentioning Oxfam. Not only does their online shop stock a great selection of second hand and vintage clothes but the money you spend also goes to a great cause.
36. People Tree – one of the original pioneers of fairtrade fashion, People Tree also have some amazing sales.
37. Posh Swaps - as this is my own website, I just had to give it a mention. You can buy, sell and swap second hand and vintage clothing for free.
38. Responsibly Gorgeous – a York based boutique selling a fabulous selection of beautiful clothes made using organic, recycled, vintage and eco fibres together with fair trade manufacture.
39. Rokit Vintage – one of my favourite places to buy vintage clothing online. Always a great selection with some reworked/ refashioned items.
40. Ruby Plum - Beautiful fabrics, gorgeous colours, flattering, exciting styles, comfortable and not made in sweatshops. Absolutely no disposable fashion, things to treasure.
41. Sea Salt Cornwall – UK based company selling beautiful clothes made from certified organic materials with interesting colours and patterns.
42. Spartoo - an online shoe retailer with a good selection of ‘green’ and ethical shoes.
43. Tara Starlet – vintage inspired fashion with responsible ethics and a timeless charm, made inn London from recycled and end of roll fabrics.
44. Terra Plana –  selling sustainable shoes with a combination of traditional shoemaking techniques and 21st-century technologies to celebrate style, health, and environmental responsibility.
45. The Natural Collection -  a wide selection of ecologically-considered products including fashion and accessories.
46. The Natural Store -  a selection of products including clothing from unique artisans and designers, cottage industries or well-known brands, either; Crafted, Fair Trade, Local, Natural, Organic, Recycled, Reclaimed, Vegan, Vegetarian or Vintage.
47. The Nud - A fair fashion bazaar and a fashion community supporting the some inspirational international designers. A fairly small collection of clothes at the moment but well worth keeping an eye on.
48. Think Boutique - wearable style combined with eye-catching one off statement pieces. Some of the most exciting and fashion-forward ethical brands all in one place.
49. Urban Buzz –  designer clothing label for women between 20-40 years old looking for a style buzz in their everyday life
50. Urban Renewal at Urban Outfitters –  made up of carefully selected items from around the world that bring the past to the present. An Urban Renewal item maybe vintage, recycled, or remade.

I hope this helped you make better choices for your clothes! :) and hey, whenever in doubt, shop second hand, the pieces are unique, and you probably won't find anyone with the same ones as you!
